Belgian Ambassador to Egypt Francois Cornet d'Elzius asserted relations between the two countries witnessed a quantum leap over the past years.

He described cooperation between Egypt and Belgium as deep and very good on all fronts.

Egypt-Belgium ties date back to 1938, he told MENA in remarks on Saturday 18/05/2024.

D'Elzius commended the strong economic partnership between the two countries, noting that Egypt is considered Belgium's second trade partner in the Middle East region and an important partner in Africa.

Meanwhile, he highlighted the terrible situation in the Palestinian city of Rafah in light of the collective suffering of the Palestinians.

He underscored the importance of reaching an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, noting that the European Union launched many proposals in this regard.

D'Elzius, whose country holds the current presidency of EU, said Belgium is seeing and confirming that the two-state solution is the sole way to attain peace and end the conflict between the Palestinians and Israel.
