In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 22, 2024, the Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed the decision of Norway, Ireland and Spain to officially recognize the State of Palestine, in an appreciated step that supports international efforts to create a political horizon that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Arab Republic of Egypt called on all states that have not yet taken this step to move forward towards recognizing the State of Palestine, in order to uphold the values of justice and fairness, and to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people who has endured the Israeli occupation for more than seven decades, thus enabling the Palestinian people to establish their independent state.

The Arab Republic of Egypt renewed its call to the Security Council and influential international parties for the necessity of intervening immediately to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people during these delicate circumstances of the Palestinian cause, and addressing, with all due responsibility, the grave humanitarian conditions witnessed in the Gaza Strip, as well as putting an end to the Israeli military attacks perpetrated in the Strip, especially in the Palestinian City of Rafah.
