Saturday، 02 November 2024 - 11:27 AM

Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania el Mashat said the State aims to develop 20 villages in 20 rural governorates within the first phase of the "Decent Life" national project.

Mashat's comments come at a time when a delegation of the Planning Ministry paid a visit to Nahtay village in Gharbia governorate, which was awarded the "Tarsheed" certification for Green Rural Communities, as part of the preparations to host the upcoming 12th World Urban Forum (WUF), scheduled for 4-8 November in Cairo.

The minister added the visit is aimed at demonstrating the projects that enabled Nahtay village to get the "Tarsheed" certification, as being an example for the villages included in the "Decent Life" project, according to a statement released by the Planning Ministry on Friday 1/11/2024.

Mashat stated the visit also targets educating citizens about the issues of balanced urban development and model projects.

She noted that the delegation inspected the Nahtay youth center, which was established through the "Decent Life" project, the agricultural services complex and Nahtay primary school, which was the first school to be built by eco-friendly materials.

She mentioned that the delegation toured a project to rehabilitate and line the 11-kilometer-long El Atf canal, a family medicine unit, an ambulance point, a family and child development center, as well as a model parking lot and a civilized market that operate on solar energy.

The delegation also inspected a biogas project in the village, which produces about 4 butane cylinders per month, the minister said.

She added the State plans to generalize the biogas project in adjacent villages and complete a project to increase the production capacity of the drinking water station in Gharbia with more than 2000 cubic meters per day.

Nahtay is the second village to receive the "Tarsheed" certification after the Aswan's village of "Fares".
