Egypt’s Electricity Min., Masdar Consortium review green projects

Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with a consortium comprising UAE’s Masdar, Egypt’s Infinity, and Hassan Allam to review progress on solar and wind power projects with a combined capacity of 1,200 MW.
Discussions covered battery storage systems and standalone storage stations to support the national grid, as per a Cabinet statement.
Esmat emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions, and diversifying energy sources.
Egypt aims to increase renewable energy’s share in its electricity mix to over 42 per cent by 2030 and 65 per cent by 2040 as part of efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote sustainability.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s support for private sector participation in the country’s renewable energy sector.
