South Sinai Governor: Sharm El Sheikh’s global ranking reflects tourism achievements

South Sinai Governor Khaled Mubarak stressed on Sunday, 18-5-2025, that choosing the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh among the top 15 global tourist destinations for summer 2025 reflects the scale of accomplishments achieved by the State in the tourism sector.
The Mastercard Economics Institute recently named Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh among the top 15 global travel destinations for summer 2025.
Speaking with "Good Morning Egypt" program, the governor said the State carried out a plan to develop and improve the efficiency of infrastructure in South Sinai in accordance with directives of the political leadership and Egypt's Tourism Development Plan.
As a result of these efforts, hotel occupancy rates in South Sinai cities since New Year eve is estimated at 100 percent with the lowest rates in Sharm el Sheikh reaching 90% during the same period.
He highlighted the diverse tourism offerings across South Sinai, including beach tourism in Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab, spiritual and religious tourism in Saint Catherine, and eco-tourism in Taba and Nuweiba.
