El-Sherbiny stresses local production for desalination

Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny underscored the importance of localising the manufacturing of equipment used in desalination plants and utilising advanced technologies, as per a Cabinet statement on Thursday 22/5/2025.
El Sherbiny emphasized the strategic importance of water desalination—both seawater and groundwater—stressing the need for all water-related sectors within the ministry to meet national targets.
The minister formed a joint committee to evaluate current facilities, improve efficiency, and plan for future needs, as well as monitor ongoing projects and timelines.
The committee will review proposals from ministries and the private sector to support the file. The ministry is committed to assisting the private sector in project implementation through partnerships for swift execution.
