Civil Aviation Ministry: Egyptian airspace 'safe', flights operating normally

Friday، 13 June 2025 - 11:59 AM

The Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed the safety of Egyptian airspace and that flights are proceeding normally. Coordination is underway with neighboring countries in light of the decisions of some countries with regular air traffic, in accordance with the highest international aviation safety standards.

The Ministry is monitoring developments around the clock through the main operations center at Cairo International Airport, in full coordination with the civil aviation authorities of neighboring countries. This follows the announcement by some neighboring countries of a temporary closure of their airspace due to the current situation in the region.

In this context, Cairo International Airport and all Egyptian airports have been placed on maximum alert, in anticipation of the possibility of receiving overflight aircraft that may be forced to change their flight paths and make emergency landings due to regional developments. Full readiness was emphasized to provide the necessary technical and logistical support for all affected flights.

Cairo International Airport received nine aircraft from foreign airlines at close intervals for refueling, after their flight paths were modified due to the closure of some neighboring airspace. All aircraft took off in record time, after receiving the necessary technical and logistical support to complete their flights safely.

In light of these developments, EgyptAir announced the cancellation of three flights bound for Baghdad, Amman, and Beirut until the airspace in those countries reopened.

Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny, , immediately headed to the Operations Center at Cairo International Airport and EgyptAir's Integrated Operations Center (IOCC). Sameh El-Hefny also visited the air traffic control tower to closely monitor the situation and ensure the smooth running of operations.
