Suez Canal Resumes Transit of Mega Container Ships

The Suez Canal has begun to see the gradual return of mega container ships, following concerted efforts by the Suez Canal Authority to encourage the world’s leading shipping lines to resume transits through the vital waterway.
The container vessel CMA CGM OSIRIS passed through as part of the southbound convoy, marking the first transit of a large container ship from the Bab el-Mandeb Strait since March 2024. The crossing comes after a temporary suspension of such vessels amid regional challenges.
