Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, held a meeting today to monitor the measures for rationalizing electricity consumption in the government district of the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Mahmoud Asmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Major General Mohamed Said, Deputy Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, Major General Ahmed Fahmy, General Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company, and several relevant officials.

The Prime Minister explained that this meeting aims to follow up on the measures for rationalizing electricity consumption and the implementation status of the solar energy cells project in the government district of the New Administrative Capital, emphasizing that improving electricity consumption efficiency should coincide with the operation of new and renewable energy production projects to reduce reliance on conventional fuels.

In this context, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy confirmed that the Holding Company for Electricity in Egypt has been instructed to start implementing an urgent action plan to rationalize energy consumption in line with current conditions and to take the necessary measures to implement the electricity consumption rationalization plan across all facilities under the sector.

He pointed out that electricity consumption rates can decrease with the help of citizens themselves in reducing reliance on conventional fuels, noting that raising awareness about consumption rationalization is a shared responsibility to conserve energy and does not imply an inability to provide electricity.

The Minister added: There is continuous coordination around the clock with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to secure electricity supply. Efforts are also ongoing to enhance and operate new and renewable energy projects, including solar energy projects aimed at increasing energy productivity from clean sources.

Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the Prime Minister was briefed during the meeting on the plan to rationalize electricity consumption in various ministry and agency buildings in the government district of the New Administrative Capital.

The Minister of Electricity indicated that there are several guiding measures for rationalizing electricity consumption in government buildings as part of a general plan by the ministry to rationalize electricity consumption overall.

These measures include the complete disconnection of electricity in all buildings after official working hours, replacing non-energy-saving bulbs with LED bulbs in those buildings, as well as raising employee awareness about the importance of following consumption rationalization procedures, in light of the measures taken by the government to sustain electricity supply.

During the meeting, Major General Ahmed Fahmy discussed the solar energy cells project in the government district of the New Administrative Capital, explaining that the solar energy system is being operated in all government buildings and connected to the grid.

Major General Ahmed Fahmy confirmed that periodic cleaning of the solar cells is carried out twice a month by the operation and maintenance alliance for the buildings in the government district, which contributes to increasing the productivity of the solar cells.
