The Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA) was established in 1999. It is an independent body that aims at discussing foreign issues which have direct or indirect relation with the Egyptian national interests. The council was set up by a group of diplomats, academics, professionals, military experts and businessmen, who agree on the need to invigorate and stimulate the profound and far reaching interaction between Egypt and its regional and international environment as the world steps into the twenty-first century in a climate of unprecedented and fast breaking events.
