Petroleum, Irrigation ministries seal deal to dig 240 groundwater wells

The Ministries of Petroleum and Irrigation have signed a cooperation protocol to dig 240 groundwater wells.
The protocol, which was signed on the sidelines of the economic conference, is estimated to cost about 800 million poubdds, said Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazi.
Under the protocol, the Petroleum Ministry will dig the wells in Siwa, the Qattara Depression and Farafra.
The protocol was signed following directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to quickly start a project to reclaim one million feddans, which is part of a bigger project to reclaim four million feddans, Moghazi said.
