70th United Nations General Assembly Session

The 70th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) convenes at UN New York HQ from September 25th until October 6th, 2015.

Provisional agenda of the 70th regular session of the UNGA includes:

A- Promotion of sustained economic growth and sustainable development in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the General Assembly and recent United Nations conferences
B- Maintenance of international peace and security
C- Development of Africa
D- Promotion of human rights
E- Effective coordination of humanitarian assistance efforts
F- Promotion of justice and international law
G- Drug control, crime prevention and combating international terrorism in all its forms and manifestations
H- Disarmament
I- Organizational, administrative and other matters

Egyptian Participation

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi leads Egypt's delegation to the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) starts on 25/10/2015. He will also deliver a speech before the UNGA.

On the side lines of the session President Sisi is expected to hold meetings with a number of world leaders, including Arab and African Heads of State to discuss international and regional issues and ways of enhancing cooperation in the various fields.

It is expected that the agenda of Sustainable Development Summit post-2015 and Maintenance of International Peace and Security Summit that will discuss support United Nations efforts in the field of peacekeeping and expand the shareholder base in peacekeeping operations, in addition to Anti- Daesh and Violent Extremism Summit will be held, besides the meeting of African Presidents Committee on Climate Change, which is chaired by Egypt.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri will also be attending a number of ministerial meetings including the Arab Foreign Ministers meeting, a high-level gathering hosted by the UN Secretary-General concerning Somalia, a ministerial meeting for the Arab/African Troika, G-77 and China foreign ministers' meeting and a coordination committee meeting for assistance to Palestinians.

He will also attend an open discussion by the UN Security Council on developments related to anti-terrorism measures in the Middle East.
