The presidency launched a project entitled “Egyptian Knowledge Bank” in a step aiming at building a civilized well-educated society through getting all kinds of human sciences available for every Egyptian citizen.

The Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) is the biggest digital library in the world, housing contents of the most prominent publishing houses all over the world such as National Geographic, Discovery Cambridge, Oxford, Reuters, Britannica and others.

These publishers are specialists in various domains of knowledge. The EKB contains scientific courses in all fields of information like electronic books and magazines, educational syllabus for schools and universities, databases, browsers, digital libraries for videos and pictures along with computer programmes in the field of sports and etc.

This EKB is designed in a way that all factions of society with various specializations and interests and ages should benefit from, in order to develop scientific research for researchers, human knowledge for youth, promote teaching methods for teachers and develop ways to attract students to learn. The EKB is Egypt’s spring on the path of progress and global competition in the age of science and information.

Actual work in this project is due to start just after signing partnerships and agreements with publishers worldwide. Negotiations have already been held with publishers through the Specialist Council for Education and Scientific Research affiliate to the presidency at the behest of the president in March 2015.

The agreements were signed on November 12, 2015 so that working on the digital infrastructure gathering all this knowledge in one source should start instantly to facilitate reaching it. This technical work takes 8 weeks to get the site available for users by the first week of January.

Moreover, the Specialist Council for Education and Scientific Research started the formation of a board of trustees to set the strategy of the project and its activities. The team work cooperates with all concerned state institutions for coordination, rationalization of resources and benefitting from the experiences in this field.

On the science day President Sisi has announced an initiative “a desired thinking, and innovating Egyptian society” that adopts tens of short, medium and long-term projects.
