Egyptian participation in OIC 13th Summit

The 13th Session of the Organization of the Islamic Countries Summit (OIC) takes place in Istanbul on 10-15 April 2016. The Senior official preparatory meeting for the Summit takes place on 10-11 April 2016. This meeting reviews and considers the outcome documents of the Summit, the draft agenda and programme of the preparatory meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, which is held on 12-13 April 2016.

The 13th Session of the Summit Conference is held at the level of the Heads of States on 14-15 April 2016 under the overall theme “Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace”. The agenda of the summit includes, among other issues, the question of Palestine and Arab-Israeli conflict, conflict situation in the Muslim world, combating terrorism and violent extremism, Islamophobia, humanitarian situation in the Muslim world, and the OIC-2025 Programme of Action. The summit adopts a final communique and Istanbul Declaration.

The Summit convenes every three year and aims at jointly reviewing the international situation in the political, economic and social fields and analyzing the impact on the Muslim Nation.

The preceding Islamic Summit Conference was held on 6–7 February 2013 in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt. The summit adopted “Cairo Final Communique” together with a set of Resolutions on various political, socio-economic and cultural issues.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry heads the Egyptian delegation.

During the summit, Egypt will emphasise on the counter-terrorism efforts.

Deputy Foreign Minister Hesham Badr, prior to the summit., represents Egypt during foreign ministers' preparatory meetings in Turkey.
