The Hungarian museums are highly interested in the Pharaonic history which receives favorable consideration in the Hungarian educational curricula up till the preparatory stage. Moreover, the Hungarian capital, Budapest, often hosts exhibitions for Pharaonic heritage.

As for mutual visits, the Hungarian Minister of Education and Culture, István Hiller, visited Egypt in November 2009 to participate in the opening ceremony of the exhibition of Egyptian antiquities discovered by Hungarian archeologists and the commemoration of the 102nd Anniversary of dispatching the first Hungarian archeological mission to Egypt.

In November 2009, a German company organized a six-month exhibition of the replicas of Tutankhamun treasures in the Hungarian capital, Budapest after being held in other four European countries. The Egyptian Embassy used this event for touristic promotion purposes, and organized a visit which was given an enthusiastic welcome for the foreign ambassadors and their spouses.

In September 2008, the Fine Arts Museum organized a three-month exhibition of Pharaonic antiquities, entitled “Pharaonic Renaissance”. The exhibition included 150 Pharaonic antiquities, the most significant of which are the “Palermo Stone” and a huge statue of Ramses II, borrowed from Vienna, Trieste, Budapest and the British Museums.

In February 2009, Békéscsaba city museum (northeast Hungary) organized an exhibition on life in Pharaonic Egypt entitled “The Resurrection”.

The Egyptian Ambassador in Hungary regularly gives interviews with journalists and radio presenters on culture and art in Egypt highlighting the strong ties binding Egypt and Hungary and the similarities between the Egyptians and Hungarians as well. The Ambassador also sheds light on the Egyptian economy, investment opportunities, and prospects of bilateral economic and commercial cooperation.

The Hungarian artist Nora Rittner, a fan of Om Kolthoum, gives annual concerts for Om Kolthoum's songs, the last of which was in November 2009. The Egyptian Embassy supports Rittner and provides her with the songs, and assists in promoting for the concert.

Egypt regularly and effectively participates with a high-level delegation in the biennially held Conference of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, entitled “World Science Forum”. In November 2009, the Egyptian delegation was headed by Undersecretary of Higher Education for Scientific Research Affairs. This conference was honoured by Nobel Science Prize Laureate Dr. Ahmed Zoweil's attendance, who delivered the keynote speech at the closing ceremony alongside the Hungarian Premier.

The Embassy is currently organizing an Egyptian cultural week in Hungary, which includes performances in Budapest and other cities. These performances would include folkloric shows, and Opera performances, Symphony Orchestra or others as well as exhibitions of Egyptian crafts and paintings.

The cultural week would also include an “Egyptian Cinema Week” and cultural symposia, where lectures on the Egyptian culture and civilization to be given. The Egyptian Cultural Week is suggested to be held in May or June 2011, to benefit from the Hungarian presidency of the European Union during the first six months of 2011. The cultural week would be also held in Pecs city, south of Hungary, which would be then the capital of European culture, and other cities as well.

There exists effective cooperation between Asalaah Association for Protecting Heritage and Contemporary Arts and the Hungarian Association of the Arts' Friends. An exhibition of Hungarian paintings entitled “Hungarian colours” was held in Prince Taz Palace, in April 2010. The Hungarian Association of the Arts' Friends hosted two exhibitions for Asalaah Association artists in Budapest; the first was held in May 2010, and the other in early August 2010.

An Arabic Language Professor at Elte University and the Head of Oriental Studies Department at Pázmány Péter Catholic University annually participate in the Annual Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Cairo to discuss ways and means of enhancing dialogue between civilizations and contemporary issues and their relation to the true Islam.
