Croatia supports Egypt in most decisions it presents to the international fora, while both countries exchange support regarding candidatures for international posts, unless it is inconsistent with pressures exerted by EU countries under the Common Foreign and Security Policy, as happened when Croatia abstained from voting in favour of the Egyptian draft resolution put annually before the International Atomic Energy Agency to free the Middle East from weapons of mass destruction.
Moreover, the Croatian Parliament passed a resolution on forming a Croatian/Egyptian Friendship Association, involving a number of most prominent Croatian parliamentarian figures. (The Egyptian side was informed with such resolution, yet the Embassy did not receive a response in this regard).
The Embassy contributed to organizing a visit of a Croatian businessmen delegation to Egypt headed by the President of Zagreb Chamber of Commerce, Zlatan Frohlich, from 29th March to 3rd April, 2008, to discuss ways and means of promoting trade and cooperation in various economic fields. Three agreements were signed between the Chambers of Commerce in Zagreb and Cairo, and Alexandria as well. This will help boosting cooperation between businessmen and expanding trade in both countries.
