New Zealand participates in the Multinational Force in Sinai, and the former Norwegian Commander of the Multinational Force was replaced by a New Zealander Commander, on March 1st, 2010.

The Egyptian and New Zealand efforts to push forward bilateral relations were crowned by a Presidential Decree to open an Egyptian Embassy in Wellington, in April 2010.
