Egyptian Visits to Kenya
On 17/3/2020, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday discussed in a phone call with his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta the latest developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). During the phone conversation, the Kenyan leader expressed his support of the positive position that Egypt adopted in the GERD talks hosted by Washington. Kenyatta also lauded the sustained progress in relations with Egypt in different fields. On his part, President Sisi said that Egypt is keen on fostering cooperation with Kenya in various areas, notably trade exchange, infrastructure development, technical support and capacity building. President Sisi explained that Cairo highly values the Kenyan supportive stance of Egypt in the GERD negotiations, underling the importance of strengthening strategic cooperation among Nile Basin countries.
On 11/1/2015: Foreign Minister arrived to Kenya on a three-day visit to attend the sixth round of the Egyptian-Kenyan joint committee meetings. He held talks with his Kenyan counterpart on means of boosting bilateral relations at the political, trade and economic levels.
On 9/4/2013: The Prime Minister arrived in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, leading a high-profile delegation to take part in the inauguration of the new Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta. The PM held talks with senior Kenyan officials on ways of promoting bilateral relations.
On 15-18/10/2009: The Assistant Minister Of Foreign Affairs for Africa of the Arab Republic of Egypt visited Kenya bringing a message of friendship and love from the Egyptian Government and People to the Kenyan Government and people.
On 19-20/5/2009: The Egyptian Minister for Water Resources and Irrigation visited Kenya where he met Minister of Water and Irrigation of Kenya Hon. Charity Nigilo. The Minister stressed during the visit the significance of Kenya to Egypt as well as discussing the fields of cooperation and the support that can be given by Egypt to Kenya.
Kenyan Visits to Egypt
On 15/11/2015: A delegation of the Kenyan National Assembly visited Egypt. They were recieved b President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The President underlined the importance of using the Nile water on the basis of mutual benefit that does not harm any party. Egypt is keen to promote cooperation with Kenya in all fields, including parliamentary ties after the election of a new Egyptian parliament by the end of the year, Sisi said.
On 5/6/2015: Egypt will offer all technical support to Kenya to fight terrorism, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Nile Basin Affairs said. He made the remark during a meeting with a high-level Kenyan delegation comprising police leaders. The meeting took up means of promoting security cooperation and the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding on this score. They also discussed how to promote cooperation to combat extremist thought through the moderate teachings of Islam with Al Azhar’s contribution.
On 8-9/11/2009: Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs Moses Wetangula headed his country's delegation during the fourth ministerial conference of the forum for cooperation between China and Africa “FOCAC”, hosted by Egypt in Sharm el-Sheikh. The Kenyan Foreign Minister met on the sidelines of the Forum Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs where they discussed a number of issues including possible Egyptian support in developing and managing Kenyan water resources, fighting desertification and rehabilitating the rain forests in Kenya.
In mid-July 2009: Vice President of the Republic of Kenya Kalonzo Musyoka headed his country's delegation in the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Sharm El-Sheikh. The Kenyan Vice President met on the sidelines of the summit the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt expressing his appreciation for the good and deep bilateral relations between the two countries and stressed his country's determination to further this relationship particularly in the field of trade.
On 17-18/6/2009: Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya Kenneth Marende visited Egypt to attend the second session of the Parliamentary Forum of the Nile Basin countries.
On 1-3/12/2008: The Chief judge of the High Court of Kenya Johnson Gicheru visited Egypt to learn more about the work of the Egyptian Ministry of Justice and its legal system, where he met his counterparts in the Egyptian Ministry of Justice to discuss issues of common interests.
