Political Relations

 The current relations between the leaderships of Egypt and Austria witness fruitful cooperation and mutual contacts. The convergence of common interests and visions of the two countries regarding many issues that have forced themselves on the international community contributes greatly to the distinction of Egyptian-Austrian relations, whether at the bilateral level or through close coordination in international forums. And cooperation in order to enhance international peace and security. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit in 2018, to the Austrian capital, Vienna, to participate in the Euro-African Forum, gave these relations a great impetus, and to be President El-Sisi’s first visit to Austria since he has ruled, and the first presidential visit between Cairo and Vienna from more than 11 years .

The most prominent facts of the relations between Cairo and Vienna

-On 7/3/2022, Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Austria. He was received by his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Schallenberg. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Austria, especially in the political, economic and investment fields, as well as international and regional issues of common concern.

-On 1/11/2021, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg in the Scottish city of Glasgow, on the sidelines of the Climate Summit. President El-Sisi congratulated the Austrian Chancellor on assuming his position recently, and affirmed Egypt's keenness to continue enhancing aspects of bilateral cooperation with Austria in various fields, especially commercial, economic and tourism, within the framework of the historical cooperation and friendship relations between Egypt and Austria, which were reflected in the multiplicity of high-level visits exchanged between the two sides during the recent period. Egypt to improve the business climate, encourage the private sector, and attract foreign direct investment, especially in light of the modern and integrated infrastructure that Egypt has now. They also discussed a number of files related to regional issues and the crises afflicting several countries in the region, where the President affirmed that the established principle for settling the region's crises is to achieve stability by restoring the concept and pillars of the national state and by supporting state institutions and strengthening the capacity of their national armies and central governments, which would undermine the activity of extremist groups and organizations. Views were exchanged on the most important developments of the Palestinian cause, and ways to revive the peace process on the basis of international references, as well as the Egyptian efforts to stabilize the cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction of it for the benefit of the Palestinian citizens. The developments related to the Renaissance Dam were reviewed, where the President stressed the high priority that Egypt attaches to its historical rights in the water of the Nile River, as an existential issue that requires the international community to make all possible efforts in order to reach a binding legal agreement regarding the rules for filling and operating the dam in order to preserve Egypt's water security, especially in light of what was included in the presidential statement issued by the UN Security Council regarding the dam.

On 11/2/2020, Egypt expressed its deep condemnation of the terrorist incident that took place in the center of Vienna, and resulted in the death and injury of a number of Austrian citizens. The government and People of Egypt stand beside   the Austrian people in facing this brutal incident and Egypt expresses confidence in overcoming this painful situation.

On 14/1/2020, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi made a phone call with the Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz, and the President congratulated "Kurtz" on his re-assuming the position of Chancellor and the formation of the new coalition government in Austria, looking forward to deepening and strengthening the Egyptian-Austrian friendship relations, President El-Sisi praised what these relations have reached at various levels during the recent period, especially at the economic and commercial levels. The Austrian chancellor expressed his gratitude for the president’s congratulations, and his country’s appreciation for the strong and distinguished relations it has with Egypt, stressing Austria’s desire to continue advancing joint cooperation at various levels to address challenges, facing the Mediterranean region, and in view of the pivotal role that Egypt represents in the Middle East and Africa, praising in this context Egypt's efforts in combating terrorism, and the successful Egyptian model in the field of combating illegal immigration.

- On 17/12/ 2018, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited Austria to participate in the agenda of the high-level forum between Africa and Europe. He was received by Alexander Van der Bellen, President of Austria. The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in the political, trade and investment fields. The President also met with the Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian, and they discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, especially the Palestinian issue, in which the two sides agreed on the need to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with the 1967 borders, the provisions of international law and the Arab Peace Initiative. On the sidelines of the forum, a number of round tables were held dealing with issues of African-European cooperation in the fields of agriculture, technology, obstacles to African-European cooperation, higher education, scientific research, investment in new projects, linking cities, mobilizing financing to face climate change in Africa, access to sustainable energy and e-government, in addition to ways to accelerate e-commerce and communication in Africa.

- On 16/9/2018, Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, and Sebastian Kurtz, Chancellor of Austria, visited Egypt. They were received by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. During the meeting, they reviewed and discussed a number of files and issues of common interest between Egypt, the European Union and Austria in its capacity as the current president of the Union. On top of which is the illegal immigration, the meeting touched on a number of other files, such as the Libyan and Syrian crises, where visions and viewpoints agreed on the continuation of work to reach political settlements for the various crises in the region, which mainly contribute to the spread of the phenomenon of illegal immigration.

-On 6/7/2018, Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Austria. He was received by Karin Kneissl, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria. The two sides discussed all aspects of the Egyptian-Austrian relations, especially economic and trade, and ways to encourage the Austrian private sector to invest in Egypt, as well as strengthening coordination mechanisms and political consultation. On regional and international issues of common concern. Shoukry also met with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz.

On 6/7/2018, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited Austria. He was received by Wolfgang Sobtka, Speaker of the Austrian Parliament and the Austrian National Council. The two sides discussed Egypt's role in dealing with vital regional files and the worsening crises in the Middle East, the most important of which are the situations in Syria and Libya .

On March 27, 2018, Ambassador "Michael Lenhardt", Secretary General of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Egypt. He was received by Ambassador Hamdi Sanad Loza, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs. The two sides discussed the bilateral relations between the two sides and ways to enhance joint cooperation in all fields, and exchange views on issues. Illegal immigration and refugees, in addition to regional and international issues of concern, and developments in the situation in the region, especially the peace process in the Middle East and the situations in Syria, Libya and Yemen .

On March 5, 2018, an Austrian press delegation that included a number of representatives of major Austrian newspapers, including Kurier, Kronen Zeitung, Die Presse, Der Standard, APA, and Profil, which are among the most widely circulated newspapers in Austria, visited Egypt. He was received by Sameh Shoukry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

-On 24/5/2017, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern met for official talks at the Ittihadiya Palace, which dealt with ways to strengthen bilateral relations and a number of regional and international issues of common concern. The two sides also discussed the repercussions of the crises in some countries of the region on security and stability. The Middle East and Europe, including issues of refugee and immigrant flows and ways to deal with them, in addition to efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

-On 20/5/2015, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Austrian counterpart, Sebastian Kurz, during his current visit to Egypt. They discussed the developments of bilateral relations between Egypt and Austria and ways of further developing and deepening them in various political, economic, cultural and commercial fields in order to achieve the common interests of the two countries.

- On 11/14/2015, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited Austria to participate in Vienna International Meeting on Syria.

On May 22, 2015, Sebastian, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Integration and European Affairs of the Republic of Austria, visited Egypt. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with him. Kurtz confirmed that his country supports the Egyptian vision to combat extremism and spread moderate Islam, stressing the importance of working to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and the European Union.

-On 9/25/2014, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Austrian counterpart, Sebastian Kurz. They discussed a number of regional issues, on top of which were developments in the Gaza Strip and ways to revive negotiations to reach a comprehensive peace, and the situation in Libya, Iraq and Syria, as well as dealing with the issue of terrorism and ways to confront it, where he presented the Egyptian vision in this regard and the need for a comprehensive framework to deal with this global phenomenon to ensure the success of regional and international efforts to eliminate this phenomenon.

Economic relations

The economic and trade relations between Egypt and Austria are governed by a number of agreements covering all fields, on top of which is the Egyptian-European partnership agreement, the agreement to avoid double taxation and prevent evasion of taxes imposed on income and capital, the agreement to encourage and protect investments, an agricultural cooperation protocol, and an agreement between the Austrian Economic Chamber and the Egyptian Businessmen’s  Association, regarding the establishment of a joint Egyptian-Austrian businessmen council, and an agreement between the governments of Egypt and Austria regarding economic, technical, industrial and technological cooperation.

The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Austria is 400 million euros, and the value of Austrian investments in Egypt are about 26 million dollars, and the number of Austrian companies operating in the Egyptian market reached about 600.

Egyptian exports to Austria:

  Vegetables and fruits, especially beans and onions, strawberries and grapes, as well as medicinal and aromatic plants, spices, and fertilizers, whether raw or manufactured, according to the report of the Commercial Representation Authority in 2017.

Egyptian imports from Austria:

Paper and paperboard, transportation machinery and equipment, pharmaceutical and medical products, iron and steel, and non-metallic products, various manufactured tools, vegetables and fruits, and animal fodder.

Highlights of economic relations

- On 10/22/2021, the Egyptian Embassy in Austria, in cooperation with the Austrian Arab Chamber of Commerce and the Union of Arab Chambers, organized an economic event under the framework of the "Twelfth Arab-Austrian Economic Forum", virtually, as Egypt was the guest of honor this year. The event, in which more than 120 local and international companies and institutions participated, dealt with three main axes related to Egypt, which are the economic reforms that took place in recent years, investment and trade opportunities with Egypt, cooperation and investment opportunities in the transport sector, and ways to activate Austrian tourism to Egypt. As well as opportunities to enhance cooperation in the areas of promotion, training and investment in the tourism field. The deliberations reflected the size of new projects in Egypt, the investment opportunities available to Austrian companies in many fields, especially in the fields of development, transportation and tourism, and ways to advance economic and investment relations between the two countries during the coming period.

On 16/9/2018, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, is heading a high-level delegation to Austria to participate in the activities of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in its sixty-second session. Shaker delivered Egypt's statement at the opening session of the conference. During the conference, a number of major issues were discussed, foremost of which is the increasing international cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy, radiation, transportation of nuclear waste and its safety, and the promotion of the Agency's activities related to nuclear science, its technologies and applications, as well as the main factors related to the safe use of nuclear technologies.

On 13/10/2016, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited Austria. Shoukry inaugurated the Egyptian-Austrian Business Forum, where it focused on ways to strengthen economic and trade relations between Egypt and Austria in various fields, and the possibilities available to increase the volume of Austrian investments in Egypt. Shoukry met with Sebastian Kurz, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Chancellor of Austria Christian Kern, and Joseph Kapp, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Austrian Parliament. Shoukry also met with a number of Austrian party leaders.

On September 25, 2014, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Austrian counterpart, Sebastian Kurz, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting dealt with developments in relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, especially in the fields of economic and trade cooperation and investment.

Egyptian Austrian Businessmen Council:

- The Egyptian-Austrian Businessmen Council was established in November 2006 in implementation of what was agreed upon during the visit of the President of the Austria in order to revitalize cooperation relations between the two countries in all fields. Four sessions of the Council were held alternately between Egypt and Austria, the most recent of which was in the period 16-19 March 2009 in Cairo.

Egyptian-European Association Agreement

- Trade between Egypt and Austria is regulated by the Egyptian-European Association Agreement according to which Egypt and the European Union have been gradually establishing a “Free Trade Zone “ during a transitional period not exceeding twelve years from the date of entry into force, on 1/6/2004. The Agreement was signed on 25/6/2001 and ratified by the European Parliament on 29/11/2001. Parliaments of the 15 EU member states ratified it and Austria was the last member to ratify on 13/3/2004 before the new 10 countries access to the EU. The Protocol on the Adaptation of the Association Agreement was signed in Brussels on 20/12/2004 on the occasion of 10 new countries accession to the EU.
On 1/1/2007 Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU according to the provisions of the accession list, the newly member states had to abide by applying the terms of Association Agreements concluded between the EU and the Foreign Countries, including Egypt, they should abide starting their accession date until concluding the protocols on the adaptation of the Agreement between the EU and those countries. Thus the Association Agreement was spontaneously applied on Romania and Bulgaria from 1/1/2007 including the preferential provisions listed in the Agreement, the agreement gives:


• Most Egyptian exports are industrial products listed in chapters 25 - 97 of the composite categorization to be given immediate customs exemption.

• Egypt and the EU liberated their trade from the agricultural, industrial agricultural and fish products listed in chapters from 1 - 24 of the customs tariff.

• It is worth mentioning that Appendix (1) of the adaptation protocol replaces protocol (1) annexed to the Agreement. The appendix is related to the Egyptian exports of the agricultural commodities, and the entering into force of the Association Agreement on the newly 10 countries accessing the EU on 1/5/2004 and expanding Egyptian exports share of some agricultural products in line with the recent expansion of the EU.

• The EU is the most important trade partner to Egypt, where Egypt's exports to the EU are about 40% of the total Egyptian exports, while the Egyptian imports are about 37% of the total Egyptian imports.

Bilateral Agreements between Egypt and Austria:

On 16/10/1962: Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Evasion from Imposed Taxes on Income and Money Capital signed in Vienna. The two countries are negotiating to hold new agreement pacing the current developments.

On 1975: Economic and technical cooperation agreement between the two countries.

On 31/1/1981:  Protocol on Agricultural Cooperation signed in Cairo.

On 11/11/1983: Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism between the Governments of Egypt and Austria signed in the Austrian Grates city.

On 12/9/1996: Bilateral Agreement on Technological, Industrial, Technical and Economic Cooperation and Establishing a Joint Committee to meet regularly signed in Cairo, on 12/9/1996 and entered into force on 27/12/2000.

On 12/4/2001: Bilateral Agreement on Encouraging and Protecting Investments signed in Cairo.

Cooperation Protocol, in the field of technical training and transformation of Industrial technology signed by the Ministry of War Production with TGM in May 2004, to discuss the possibility of transferring the Austrian experience in applied sciences Universities system to Egypt

On 18/5/2004: Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation, in the field of Health Care between the Ministries of Health in both countries signed in Vienna

On 25/3/2005: Agreement on Bilateral Cooperation in the field of Railways signed in Cairo.

On 14/11/2006: Agreement on Establishing the Egyptian-Austrian Businessmen Council between the Austrian Economic Chamber and the Egyptian-Austrian Friendship Association signed in Cairo.

In February 2007: Cooperation Protocol between the Austrian and Egyptian National Libraries.

In October 2007: Signed Framework Agreement on Presenting a Soft Loan estimated by 50 million Euros for financing developmental projects in Egypt.

In October 2007: Memorandum of Understanding on Enhancing Cooperation, in the field of Maritime, Railways and public transport.

In October 2007: A letter of Intent, on preparing a memorandum of understanding on technological cooperation in the field of health care.

On 5/5/2008: Technical Cooperation Agreement between Austrian Technology Corporation (ATC) in the Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology and the Egyptian  River Transport Authority, in the field of river transport signed in Cairo, and according to which ATC/Via Donau helps the River Transport Authority in the following: -

• Preparing the technical specifications of the RIS project, through exploring the Nile sector from Aswan to Qena, wherein the Project Pilot would be established as an Endeavour. In light of achieving success, the project would be generalized to the whole Nile River bed to converting it to a navigable stream.

• Assisting in the evaluation of Austrian companies that offered to participate in the implementation of the project.

• Assisting the Egyptian River Transport Authority in supervising the implementation of the project.

In February 2009: Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Austrian Advisory and the Central Agency for Organization and Administration in the field of reforming and developing the governmental cadre, signed in Cairo.

In July 2009: Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the National Institute of Technology and Quality of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and its Austrian Counterpart signed in Vienna.

2019: cooperation protocol in the field of scientific research.

2020: Agreement to establish a factory for the production of railway rails.

2021: A sales and marketing cooperation agreement between Air Cairo and Sun Express, one of the most important air carriers in transporting tourism to Egyptian tourist attractions. Under this agreement, Air Cairo operates 30 regular weekly flights between Hurghada and 14 airports in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, which contributes to the return of tourism to Hurghada.

2021: Signing a development financing of 8.5 million euros, to benefit from the new National Railways Authority, to purchase machinery, equipment and 4 machines for the maintenance of the Egyptian railways, in the presence of George Stilfried, the Austrian ambassador to Cairo, and Martin Waller, the Austrian commercial advisor.

2022: Signing a contract to establish a joint venture company between Egyptian Railways and the Austrian Voest Alpine Company to manage and operate the Abbassiya workshop for the production of railway keys.

Cultural relations

Inauguration of the first forum for Egyptian scientists and experts in Austria

On April 14, 2014, the Egyptian Ambassador to Austria, Khaled Shamaa, held a meeting at the embassy headquarters in Vienna. A window that allows Egyptian scientists and experts specialized in various scientific, academic and university fields to present all ideas, opinions, and proposals that would enhance Egypt's benefit from these fields, under the auspices of the Egyptian Embassy and the support of the Cultural Counselor to Austria, Dr. Ahmed Shaheen.


Highlights of cultural relations:

-On 21/10/2022, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Dr. George Stilfried, Austrian Ambassador in Cairo, to discuss ways to support cooperation between Egypt and Austria in the scientific and research fields. Among the aspects of cooperation in joint research programs in areas of priority for the two countries, as well as cooperation between the Egyptian Space Agency and its Austrian counterpart.

On 16/9/2022, Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the of St. Mark, received at the Papal Headquarters in Cairo, His Grace Bishop Gabriel, Bishop of Austria, who arrived in Cairo recently, and was keen to meet Pope Tawadros II, and presented to him some files related to his pastoral service in Austria.
On 11/8/2014, Dr. Jalal Mustafa Saeed, Governor of Cairo, and the Deputy Ambassador of Austria, Dr. Rene Imray, witness the opening of the third cultural festival of Austria, which was held by the Austrian Cultural Center in Al-Azhar Park under the title "Austria's Encounter with Egypt" in the framework of supporting relations between the two countries. In addition to the artistic and musical performances presented by bands from Austria, and the governor of Cairo confirmed that Austria’s keenness to hold the festival for the third year reflects the strength of relations between Egypt and Austria, and the establishment of these festivals helps on cultural and intellectual rapprochement, transfer of literature and arts, and exchange of experiences between countries and peoples.


Tourism Relations

-On 20/10/2021, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, participated in a recorded video speech in which he shed light on the development of the tourism and antiquities sector in Egypt, in the Austrian-Arab Economic Forum in its twelfth edition, which is organized by the Egyptian Embassy in Austria virtually in cooperation with the Arab Chamber of Commerce. Under the title "Economic Development and Investment Opportunities in Egypt," the Minister spoke about the relations of friendship and joint cooperation between Egypt and Austria in all fields, including the field of tourism and antiquities, expressing his confidence that this forum will work in turn to enhance means of joint cooperation between the two countries and to exchange experiences for the development of human cadres in all fields.

In February 2007: Austria won the Twinning Project between Egypt and the European Union in the field of tourism signed in Egypt aiming at developing mechanisms of activating tourism in Egypt.

Transport Cooperation

On 13/9/2022, Minister of Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, held a session of talks with both the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Interior Minster of Austria, in the presence of the Austrian Ambassador to Cairo, to strengthen joint cooperation in the various fields of transport. Railways and cooperation in the river transport system, which is represented in the implementation of the RIS project, pointing to more joint cooperation in all fields of transport, especially in the field of railways, with the great progress of the Austrian side in this field. For his part, the Austrian Foreign Minister confirmed that his visit to the Egyptian Ministry of Transport With the Austrian Minister of the Interior and the Egyptian Ministry of Transport, it is an embodiment of the strong relationship between the political leadership and the two friendly peoples, and the great position of Egypt, which is considered the safety valve of the region and has a pivotal role at the international level.

Cooperation in Education

- On 21/10/2022, Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Dr. George Stilfried, Austrian Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss ways to support cooperation between Egypt and Austria in the scientific and research fields, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Al-Azazy, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector at the Ministry, Dr. Mohamed El-Shennawy, Acting President of Galala University.

On March 1, 2020, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held a meeting with Mr. Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the Austrian Parliament, and a number of Austrian university presidents, in the presence of Dr. George Stilfried, the Austrian ambassador to Cairo, at the headquarters of the Supreme Council of Universities at Cairo University. At the beginning of the meeting, the minister stressed the depth of the relations between Egypt and Austria, and the opening of new horizons of fruitful cooperation between the two countries, pointing to Egypt's aspiration for more cooperation with the Austrian side in the field of Higher education, science, technology and innovation, technical education, and benefiting from Austrian experience in the medical field, stressing the importance of strengthening scientific cooperation relations between Egyptian and Austrian universities, especially new universities, and the need to expand support for partnership between Egyptian and Austrian research and scientific institutions in the fields of scientific research and higher education. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stressed the importance of exchanging views and cooperation between the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities and Austrian universities, calling on the heads of Egyptian universities to study activating cooperation with Austrian universities, and to hold joint memorandums of understanding with them, especially in scientific programs of common interest, by holding joint meetings between university presidents, and getting acquainted with the academic programs of each university and the areas of joint cooperation.

On 19/12/2019, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Hans Fassmann, Austrian Federal Minister of Education for Education, Science and Research; to discuss joint cooperation between Egypt and Austria, in all fields, especially cultural, scientific and educational, the minister pointed to the importance of strengthening scientific cooperation between Egyptian and Austrian universities and educational institutions in the two countries, calling for an increase in scholarships offered to postgraduate students to 150 scholarships, as well as 100 full scholarships in majors, and priority areas such as water research, renewable energy, urban planning, and subway management, as the Republic of Austria has a transportation network that is considered the first in Europe, stressing the need to expand support for partnership between Egyptian and Austrian research and scientific institutions in the field of small projects, and during the meeting, the two sides discussed many topics, including: how to benefit from the expertise of the Austrian side in many disciplines, including: improving the quality of life, uses of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, modern applications of artificial intelligence, dealing with waste, recycling it in preparation for benefiting from it, and managing museums, as Austria is one of the most successful countries in managing museums, as well as benefiting from the experience of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Vienna, as well as the desire of the Anti-Corruption Academy in Austria to cooperate with the ministry in the field of scholarships. For his part, the Austrian Minister of Education stressed the continuation of cooperation between Egypt and Austria in implementing joint scientific projects between the two countries, pointing to his country’s keenness to push and encourage cooperation.


Parliament relations

- On March 2, 2020, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met "Wolfgang Sobotka", Speaker of the Austrian National Assembly "Parliament" and his accompanying delegation, which includes a number of parliamentarians and representatives of companies. The meeting was attended by Dr. Muhammad Shaker Al-Marqabi, Minister Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry, Counselor Alaeddin Fouad, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Ambassador Mustafa Al-Quni, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Parliamentary Affairs, and Ambassador Wael Hamed. At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister praised the historical friendship between Egypt and Austria, and the continuous communication between the President and the Austrian Chancellor to strengthen bilateral relations and consult on the most important regional issues within the Euro-Mediterranean framework, and the Prime Minister expressed Egypt's aspiration to exchange land experiences. He encouraged the parliamentarians in Austria to visit Egypt and meet with their Egyptian counterparts, stressing at the same time Egypt's keenness to coordinate with the Austrian side in the fields of combating illegal immigration and combating terrorism, and exchanging experiences between the two sides in light of Austria's interest in these two files.

Cooperation in the field of petroleum and mineral resources

On 10/22/2007, the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Eng. Sameh Fahmy, discussed with the Minister of State for Economy and Labor in Austria, Christine Mark, and Dr. Richard Chance, Vice President of the Austrian Economic Chamber, ways to support joint cooperation between Egypt and Austria in the field of oil, gas, petrochemical and mineral wealth industries.

Tourism cooperation

On 20/10/2021, Dr. Khaled al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, spoke during the Austrian-Arab Economic forum about the relations and joint cooperation between Egypt and Austria in all fields, including the field of tourism and antiquities, expressing his confidence that this forum will strengthen ways of joint cooperation between the two countries and the exchange of experiences for the development of human resources in all fields.
